1056 municipal councilors voted in favour of the CPDM lists.
The first Regional Assembly of the Northwest Region is an all-CPDM house. Although the party was running unopposed in the region, it insisted on the massive participation of the councilors despite the insecurity. The party hierarchy at the Region worked hand in glove with security forces to ensure the safety of the Electoral College. There was heavy mobilization of the councilors. Many councilors live out of their council areas or the region because of the crisis. It took assiduity of the various campaign teams to woo the councilors to participate.
Lockdown imposed by self-styled leaders of Ambazonia made circulation difficult in some parts of the region. However, the party found ways to outwit the lockdown. The measures paid off, as there was a massive turnout at the polls in all the seven divisions of the region.
1037 of 1063 registered councilors cast their votes in the Northwest Region at the Regional Elections of December 6, 2020. In Mezam there were seven void ballots, suspected to have come from the SDF-run council of Bamenda III as 227 voted the CPDM list of 18 delegates.
Meanwhile 107 out of 114 registered cast their votes in Boyo Division, all in favour of the CPDM list, of seven persons. 193 out of 195 councilors fulfilled their civic responsibility in Bui Division. All the votes went to the CPDM (13 delegates). Donga Mantung Division scored 163 out of 168; sending 10 delegates to the Regional Assembly. In Menchum Division, 103 out of 107 went to the polls last Sunday and voted the CPDM list of seven delegates. 134 out of 137 participated in the December 6 Regional Elections in Momo Division. Momo has eight delegates. Only one councilor was absent in Ngoketunjia Division, of the 104 registered voters that gave the CPDM list of seven a plebiscite. Poor health and other reasons prevented 26 councilors from voting in the Region.

Some major fondoms will be represented in the house of chiefs – an aspect of the Special Status contained in the Decentralization Code. Fon Angwafor III, paramount ruler of Mankon in Mezam Division, is among the big names. Fon Jabo Nfor Ibrahim of Nkambe in Donga Mantung and Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih (Traditional ruler of Bambalang) in Ngoketunjia are also powerful names in the landscape of traditional authority in the Northwest Region. The Paramount Fon of Nso Mbinglo II stayed on the list despite threats from separatist fighters. On November 5, the Fon was kidnapped with Cardinal Tumi -by gunmen – in Babessi, on the road to Kumbo as he travelled back to his palace after close to two years of absence. He was freed on condition that he will reject regional elections. But, he choose to ignore.
