Despite the gloomy health situation due to the coronavirus pandemic, militants remain united in supporting government fight the virus until its eradication.
Once again, Covid-19 has compelled the militants of the CPDM to commemorate the Party’s anniversary without pomp and fanfare. This has in no way quelled the ardent support the militants continue showing their National President Paul Biya. More than ever before, the hazardous times warrant committed militants to throw their weight behind the Head of State in his drive to end the spread of the deadly virus. This year’s celebration anniversary comes at a time when the country is battling with an increased number of infected cases and covid-related deaths. It is thus normal for the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Jean Nkuété to say, “Let’s mobilise wholeheartedly behind the government for the success of the national fight against the Coronavirus pandemic”.
The SG’s appeal now is for militants to spearhead the sensitization of the population in the respect of barrier measures. People must continue washing their hands, wearing masks, avoiding crowds by keeping safety distances and above all, urgently seeking medical help in case of infection. Today, the CPDM can boast that its militants have contributed enormously to this fight, looking at the tons of sanitary kits offered by various militants nationwide. The gesture of militants testifies to their unalloyed support to the national cause and their resolve to see this pandemic kicked out of Cameroon.
Nonetheless, the Party is feet-deep in counting and registering its militants at home and abroad. Just like the SG outlined in his release, comrades on the field need to “rigorously and methodically pursue the basic structures validation operations in progress, in compliance with the provisions of the ad-hoc circular.” In the hope of better days to come, the CPDM continues to stand by the people like it has done for thirty six years now.
