Hon. Prince Mikody Ange Gilbert : National Assembly Pays Last Homage

His peers described the Member of Parliament, who died last March 24, 2021, as an embodiment of humility, dynamism and high sense of responsibility.

The CPDM MP who hailed from Boumba and Ngoko division in the East region was one of the youngest lawmakers of the 10th legislature. He topped the CPDM list in Boumba and Ngoko division during the legislative election of February 9, 2020. At only 32, the late MP has gone too soon, without fulling the aspirations of his constituents, which according to other MPs, he defended each time the occasion showed up. He will be remembered as having been at the origin of the parliamentary network for Good Governance in the Management of Extractive Industries (REPGRE) of which he was the active president.
In a solemn event last April 22, 2021 at the Yaounde Conference centre, late Hon. Mikody Ange Gilbert was given last respects by his colleagues. The ceremony that was presided over by the Senior Deputy Speaker Hon. Hilarion Etong, was used by other MPs to pay homage to a colleague they described as humble, responsible and dynamic. He was also a member of the Commission on Economic Affairs, Planning and Regional Development. To Hon. Mbe Assae Mendomo Alexandre head of that commission, the late MP was patriotic, available and respected state institutions. His love to make the life of his constituents better was the reason he was devoted in what he did. Despite having bowed out after just a year in service as the people’s representative, the illustrious son from the land of the rising son imprinted a mark in the hearts of his peers.
A tribute from the CPDM Vice Parliamentary Group Leader, Hon Mary Meboka, describes the deceased as a disciplined, dynamic and active party official who respected hierarchy. At the National Assembly, she said, he worked at representing the interest of the people who voted him into the lawmaking House. The deceased, she added, had a very brief but insightful impact at the House. Hon. Mary Meboka regretted the fact that since March 9, 2020, the start of the 10th legislature, the CPDM has lost six MPs with the most recent being Hon. Emilia Mojowa Lifaka who died on April 20, 2021 in Buea, South West Region.
