Named Blue Home, the product was launched Yesterday, Tuesday August 31, 2021 in Yaoundé by Camtel authorities in the presence of its partners, Huawei.
Residents of Yaoundé and Douala will henceforth have access to high-speed broadband internet in their homes, at the cheapest rate in the market. From a modem purchased from Camtel and plugged in the home, a user can watch Internet Protocol TV such as Canal+, watch videos on the highest definition over YouTube, for example, and stream films on networks like Netflix. The user can also share data and play video games online. With the top speed internet, the user can basically share voice, videos and data, and connect to the rest of the world from their home. On the watchful eyes of the deputy General Manager of Camtel Daniel Desiré Ollé, the President of Home Broadband Huawei Li Yungeo, staff of Camtel and the media, the Blue Home project Manager Edmund Che Zama demonstrated on a HDTV, how the new offer works. His presentation drew applause from his audience that seemed marvelled by the offer.
Flexibility
The BlueHome is quality internet of 4G, only offered my Camtel. The company transports fibre optic overhead, and from these points, the modem in the home powered with a sim card picks signals from the poles. At different rates, Camtel offers three packages of BlueHome: 4Mbps, 7Mbps and 10Mbps for 15000, 25000 and 40000 FCFA respectively. At the end of each month, the user can switch to any of prepaid packages. With any package, the customer can download without limit. Camtel says it is targeting households, start-ups, small businesses and shops with the Blue Home offer.
The telecom company has put in place customer service to cater for users of Blue Home. Over 20 agencies, with a staff of more than 200 are ready to serve the user. Through Orange Money and Mobile Money, the customer can activate BlueHome and there is a toll-free number to call the customer service for inquires and problem fixing.
In the next phase of the project, other regional capitals and some satellite towns will be connected. Camtel, according to the Project Manager has the ambition to cover the entire country in a close future.
