Cameroon’s legendary hospitality needs to shine through militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, as solicited by the Party’s scribe.
Cameroonians are already enjoying the effervescence of the Afcon tournament, following the scintillating kickoff that was attended amongst others by Paul Biya, National President of the CPDM. The atmosphere so far in the various cities hosting the tournament is said to be feisty as patriots want to make every moment count in this history making event. In a communiqué signed on January 4, 2022, Jean Nkuété, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM called on militants to turn out in their numbers to support their national champion, President of the republic in making the tournament a success. To him, the massive mobilization of militants throughout the national territory is at the same time a civic and civil responsibility. The aim he emphasizes is to give a befitting welcome to guests from around the world and paint a good image of the country and its people. The 2021 Total Energies Afcon should be used by militants to portray the country’s legendary hospitality and which to say the least is already being enjoyed by visitors from other African countries and beyond.
Jean Nkuété’s call for militants in localities hosting the tournament is loud. “Ensure participation in the matches in strict compliance with protective measures prescribed jointly by the government and CAF” the communiqué reads. There is no gainsaying that militants will walk the talk as it was evident before the kickoff with CPDM run councils making the extra effort to keep streets clean, acquire apparels in the colours of the country’s flag amongst other measures. Covid-19 is still very much an issue and it explains the numbers of militants who have cued up to be vaccinated against the deadly corona virus, to not only remain safe but also protect visitors.
Like never before, militants of the CPDM will act as stumbling blocks to those who have nurtured ideas of disrupting the football jamboree in one way or another. This was part of the SG’s call to peace loving CPDM militants as he charged heads of regional and divisional delegations of the party to “ensure adequate supervision and support of militants and to take appropriate measures of vigilance”. It is thus incumbent on CPDM men, women and youths to all muster strong for the tournament to record the much desired resounding success.
