Convened and chaired by the Section President Serge Eric Tonga on February 5, the meeting was attended amongst others by members of the section executive as well as representatives from subsections.
The Conference that took place in the city of Udine had as objective to outline the functioning of the CPDM for better understanding as well as remind the Section and subsections executives of their missions. Since coming into office after the renewal of CPDM basic organs that took place last year end, some members of executives are yet to assimilate their roles and their missions for the overall smooth functioning of the Section’s agenda. This explains why this first Section conference was important as participants were updated on the expectations of the Party’s hierarchy for each member regarding the running of party activities in Italy.
If the Italy section has been thriving and serving as an example to emulate this far, it is thanks to the close knit collaboration of members of the executive who during the section conference laid down and adopted specific directives to enhance the efficient management of the basic organs. Italy counts five subsections lodged in Rome, Venice, Udine, Parma and Florence. Now more than ever, these subsections have to grow their membership by constantly recruiting new militants. This according to Frederick Ndang Nchaw Secretary of the Section, can only be possible if the members of the executive take their roles seriously, master their missions and continue working in association with the mother section.
Apart from presenting the updated card index of militants, certain articles of the basic text regarding financial resources and management were also discussed. The section constantly keeps militants at home and abroad abreast with recent happenings through various media platforms. It was thus imperative for some rules to be set on the management of communication through Whatsapp, facebook, twitter amongst others, ensuring that all what goes out has been duly approved by the concerned authorities. While drawing up the annual calendar of statutory meetings, the attendees took into account such dates as March 24 and November 6, symbolically commemorated by militants of the CPDM every year.
Despite the absence of some delegates to the conference due to health restrictions by the Italian government, the turnout was impressive and at the end, the valiant CPDM militants pledged their support to the State and its institutions. The decision was taken to continue promoting a positive image of Cameroon abroad as well as that of its illustrious leader Paul Biya.
