The two accounts were examined and adopted by senior Councillors during a twin council session, chaired by the city Mayor, Paul Efome Lisombe Ngale.
The 2021 Administrative, management and stores accounts of Limbe city council, as well as the council budget for 2022, have been adopted. The dual accounts were adopted during an extraordinary session that held last week at the city council conference Hall, chaired by the City mayor, Paul Efome Lisombe Ngale.
Meeting at the first extraordinary council session for 2022, the 33 senior councillors of the Limbe city board, took off time to first scrutinise the Administrative, management and stores accounts. The accounts shows a relative improvement in revenue collection and the execution of projects. Some of the projects executed within the 2021 financial year by the city council includes the construction of modern market in the city, construction of new roads, electricity extension, provision of pipe borne water in some neighborhoods among others, with main difficulties being the ongoing socio-political crisis that negatively slowed down economic activities in the city.
As for the 2022 budget, the senior councillors adopted the amount presented by the council executive that balanced in revenue and expenditure to the tune of FCFA 8.000.000.000.
Addressing senior Councillors and the Administration during the session, the city mayor, who was chairing the session for the first time after his election, expressed the need for collaboration and team work in order to transform the city of Limbe. Paul Efome Lisombe Ngale disclosed that his vision is to leave a blue print in the life of the city. To achieve his objectives, he urged all to put hands on deck and placed the interest of the city at top.
The delay in the adoption of the 2022 budget, he said was due to the I’ll health and subsequent demise of the former city mayor.
The 2022 budget which stands at FCFA 8.000.000.000, witnessed a drop of FCFA 500.000.000, of the 2021 budget. The above budget as explained by the city mayor will focus on the extension of electricity and water supply, extension of the Limbe city market, road construction as well as provision of street lights and setting up of a master plan for the city.
At the end of the session, that witnessed the presence of the senior Divisional Officer for Fako, senior councillors appreciated the development vision of the young and dynamic city mayor, and pledge their total support to help him attain his objectives.
