Death of First Vice President, Fon Angwafo III : CPDM Scribe Pays Condolence Visit to Mankon

The Secretary General of the Central Committee Jean Nkuété bore a condolence message from the National President Paul Biya, and CPDM family to the people of Mankon.

Jean Nkuété accompanied by his close collaborators, the Governor of the North West region Adolph Lele Lafrique, the SDO for Mezam, and the City Mayor of Bamenda visited the palace of Mankon last Saturday May 28, 2022.
The SG came to convey the message of the National President of the CPDM party Paul Biya to the royal family of Late Fon Angwafo III, and his subjects – the people of Mankon that he ruled for over 63 years.
Fon Angwafo III was the lone surviving Vice President of the CPDM, a post he occupied since the creation of the party on March 24, 1985 in Bamenda.
Besides working hard for the creation of the CPDM, he remained a committed militant of the party, a firm supporter of one Cameroon, and crusader of peace –more so with the dwindling security situation in the North West region, because of separatist hideous activities.
During the condolence visit, the Secretary General was briefed on the funeral programme of the late baron of the CPDM. He was also privileged to meet the new king of Mankon. The new ruler sent words of gratitude to President Paul Biya through the Secretary General of the Party for his condolence message. He pleaded for the repairs on the road leading to the palace (about 10km from the centre of Bamenda) ahead of the funeral ceremony of the late Fon. However, our sources say the road would have been constructed if separatists had not obstructed.
A day after the SG left from the palace, the Kwifon, the traditional secret society in charge of picking the new king officially announced the death of Fon Angwafo III and declared one week of mourning in Mankon land.
In a statement on May 22, the Governor of the North West region confirmed that death snatched Fon Angwafo III on May 21.
