BUEA : CPDM Council Listens to Inhabitants

The Council of Buea hosted denizens of the municipality at the Town Hall on Thursday July 28, 2022.

The platform was an opportunity for the council authorities to have a conversation with the inhabitants on priority areas of development. Buea inhabitants attending the meeting lined up panoply of areas they think need the immediate action of the authorities.
Lack of roads, water, electricity and street lights came up. Land grabbing and waste management didn’t miss the list. Land grabbing scandals seem not to go away. Esombe Vefonge Joseph, the National President Molongo mo Wapke, a development oriented organisation, said land grabbing is a “major preoccupation.” The mayor, responding to the named worries of the denizens promised to resolve them. “We have heard the worries of our denizens and we are going to integrate what members of the community said and create committees to do different tasks scientifically so that we can realise some of the projects proposed by our denizens,” the mayor explained as way forward.
The mayor, during the meeting presented what the council has done in the last two years. He cited road rehabilitation, water supply amongst many others.
The Mayor of the Buea council, Barrister David Mafani Namange wants inhabitants of Buea to participate in development of the municipality through constructive criticism. The town hall meeting offered this opportunity. “The meeting is an avenue for local officials to have an exchange with members of the community on developmental issues,” the mayor gave as raison d’être of the meeting. The meeting held under the theme: Community Participation in Local Development.
