Some 628 pupils and students of Bamusso Subdivision, have received books and other didactic material to assist them in their quest for knowledge.
School enrolment this academic year in the South West region has been impressive. In the Ndian Division and particularly Bamusso Subdivision, the turnout of pupils and students from nursery to secondary level has gladdened the hearts of the elite, who see the determination of the young ones as worth encouraging. With the current shaky security situation in the Anglophone regions, many children of school going age fled their areas in search of more safe and conducive study environments. Thus in a bid to encourage those who for one reason or another did not leave the area and still mustered the courage to go to school, Meme Meme Samuel, Mayor of Bamusso council alongside Teke Monjongi, YCPDM Section President for Ndian IV dipped their hands into their pockets to provide funds to acquire didactic material for school children.
In a ceremony that took place at the Bamusso council chambers on 7 October 2022, young boys and girls of the municipality who had answered present on the first day of the academic year received exercise books from the hands of their benefactors. These books Mayor Meme said were to support the children in their education, at a time when their lives are threatened by their presence in school. Teachers, students and pupils thanked the benefactors for the kind gesture, which they said was quite an encouragement to their studies. While praying that God would replenish the source of their kindness and spur others to copy the example, the students promised to be of good behaviour and consecrate all efforts in acquiring knowledge that would help them contribute to nation building in future.
Teke Monjongi for his part beckoned on the young ones to remain steadfast on their education path as this was a prerequisite to achieving their dreams. For one who has always endeavoured to empower youths through workshops and skill acquiring schemes, he used the opportunity to appeal to the better consciences of the students to shun delinquency by all cost.
