In line with the Basic texts of the Party, the section will hold its second statutory meeting on the sidelines of the commemoration of the anniversary of President Paul Biya’s accession to power on 6 November.
In communiqué signed by Frederick Ndang Nchaw, Secretary of the Section, the meeting will hold in Rome, head quarter of the Section and also venue for celebrations to mark the anniversary of President Paul Biya’s accession to the helm of the State. According to the announcement, “members convened to the Section Conference include Executive members of the Section, three representatives from each Sub-Section Executive designated by the respective Executives.” The meeting will be the lieu par excellence to evaluate activities that have been carried out by the Section and also look into the management of financial resources. As the section plans to close its 2022 calendar of activities, the timing will be right to project into the new year and envisage closing gaps that might have been noticed in the old one.
The Section executive has been quite busy despite the prevailing Covid-19 context that accounted for the grounding of several activities. Eric Serge Tonga, Section President and his team harnessed the upside of social media platforms to continually keep in touch with the base. The reorganisation of basic organs gave the executive the chance to rekindle the zeal to conquer more terrain with the wooing of new militants. Meanwhile, the section has been hard hit by the death of some militants and for which the section mobilised to accompany their fallen comrades.
To ensure a resounding success of the conference and the anniversary celebration, Sub-section presidents have been called to mobilise their executives to actively participate. “We are calling on all Presidents and officials of our basic Organs to step up mobilisation and organisation in order that we make this year’s event a memorable one. Given the timid resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic in Italy, militants are notified that the commemoration will be conducted in compliance with the protective measures prescribed by the Italian Government”.
While waiting for the SG, Jean Nkuété’s circular stating modalities of the anniversary celebration, the section is gearing up for the dual events with continuous calls for militants to do the needful so that their support to the National President would be outstanding.
