Women and Youths in Manyu are taking interest in crop and livestock farming as the benefit from the largess of Senator Tabe Tando.
The senator seeks empower them economically as a way of rehabilitating and reviving the division which live all division in Anglophone Cameroon is recovering from the hardships brought by the soci-political crisis. The gesture is a sign of appreciation to councilors of the four councils for what Tabe Tado has termed “My election and re-election as a member of the senate in 2013 and 2018 respectively”.
This is also a way of giving back and thanking the population of the Manyu division, hence keeping his campaign promises to the people. The pig and Maize farm project has been placed under the tutelage of the four councils in the Manyu division namely: The Mamfe, Akwaya, Tintoand and Eyoumojock councils. This scheme falls in line with the decentralization vison of President Paul Biya for the transfer of power to local communities. Tabe Tando has thus indulged youths and women in the sustainable use of pig and Maize farming to increase income generation and livelihood through the councils.
Talking on behalf of one of the beneficiary councils, Tabenchong Roberson Ashu, Mayor of Mamfe council said, “This recent move to promote the cultivation of maize, cassava, cocoa, plantains and vegetables, as well as pig farming in the respective Subdivisions, will perceptibly go a long way to uplift many souls especially at this difficult time of the sociopolitical crisis rocking the English-speaking Regions of the country”.
The Senator is said to be reaching out and impacting live greatly and by his gesture many can put food on their tables and send children to school.
Still Speaking Mayor Tabenchong revealed that, “Nfor Tabetando tenaciously stands for the ideals of love, development, and peace. He is the pivot of the CPDM in our division and we appreciate him greatly” he continued.
For his part, Etchu Joseph Eyong, Mayor for Tinto council said, “I am quite convinced that this new economic vision of promoting subsistent agriculture by Nfor Tabe Tando will help the local communities. Nfor Tabe tando to me unequivocally remains a veritable political Colossus. I profoundly admire him as a wonderful philanthropist who has contributed enormously in uplifting humanity and as a great promoter of culture, who made us exceedingly proud when he was the president of the Southwest Chiefs Conference.”, he said.
The senator through this activity wants to make sure that women and youths of Munyu division who depend directly on agriculture for their livelihood embark on piggery fattening and meat production as alternative sources of their household incomes.
