The Vice President of the National Assembly alongside his alternate Ngoko Marie Louise have donated hospital equipment worth CFAF 25million as part of their parliamentary reach out.
When the population of the Upper Plateau division enumerates its blessings, it counts, Hon. Datouo Théodore twice. The MP and his alternate have never relented efforts in improving on the wellbeing of their constituents through the provision of basic infrastructure and other social amenities. Thus in prelude to the celebration of the New Deal’s 40th anniversary and within the framework of their parliamentary actions on the field, the duo organized a medical campaign which involved free consultations and treatment of diverse illnesses. The initiative nurtured and matured by Hon. Datouo, Vice President of the National Assembly benefitted from the support of some thirty medical doctors from China.
For two days, some 1618 persons were consulted of diverse ailments and treated for free by the team that comprised both Chinese and Cameroonian medics. In all, there were specialists from the fields of cardiology, odontostomalogy, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedic, oncology, ENT and acupuncture experts, surgeons and general medicine practitioners.
According to Hon. Datouo “from the conclusions drawn at the end of the health campaign, we observed that a huge segment of the population suffers from eye related diseases followed cervical cancer in women and rheumatism. Measures will be taken will be taken to follow up the treatment of these patients while continuing awareness campaigns in the communities”.
Free consultations and treatment effected by the 22nd Chinese medical mission began on October 28 ended on the 31st with the donation of a huge consignment of medical equipment to the Bangou Carrefour Health Centre and the Bamendjou District Hospital. It comprised amongst others beds, examination and delivery tables, diverse medicines, stethoscopes and varying test kits. Presiding at the handover ceremony was the Pierre Rene Songa, SDO for Upper Plateau. Fanche Timothé, one of the patients who was consulted and treated expressed his joy at the mobilization of medical professionals to listen to their health worries and provide them with medication. He acknowledged that such gestures from the MP were not new and prayed for the team to continue the good work for the benefit of the population.
The Members of Parliament for the Upper Plateau Constituency in the West region by this magnanimous act proved that they cherish the wellbeing of the population.
