Militants of the Momo South West Section in Widikum refuse to be taken unawares by any electoral stakes by constantly working towards set goals.
They have been holding meetings to strategise and win more militants into the CPDM. According to Akwa Stephen Tambu, the section President, “We permanently mobilize militants behind our champion Paul Biya. This is in respect to the party’s recommendations that local authorities ensure that militants get to know the day-to-day evolution of the party. We do this through statutory meetings involving the bureau. One of our subsections, the Boffe subsection recently had its subsection conference and the reports were encouraging. The turnout was impressive, and during that meeting militants were reassured that the CPDM remains the lone party that can bring desired development. It gave us the opportunity to remobilize, educate and inform the militants about the ideals of the party”, he said.
The recent celebration of the 40 years of the New Deal also was another occasion where the militants demonstrated their undiluted attachment to Paul Biya. In the words of the section president “we have taken a firm resolve to relaunch party activities in full gear in our section in preparation for future stakes” adding that “we continue to encourage militants of our great party to take advantage of the return to normal life and make up for lost time as we enter 2023”.
Militants and sympathisers who are of voting age are encouraged to get actively involved in the revision exercise of electoral lists come January 2023. As the section president put it « We expect our militants to begin registration by January 1st 2023 when Elecam opens registers. We want to ensure that our section stays afloat and ready for any electoral exercise” he emphasised.
Widikum still faces challenges such as the lack of electricty, bad roads and a poor health network. Militants in the section believe that only through the CPDM and President Paul Biya can the area develop. The recent hostage taking by separatists has taught the people in Widikum a bitter lesson and CPDM authorities here are ringing the alarm bells for the militants to wake up. They must not fall for any cheap political offers.
