As the CPDM prepares for campaigns for the senatorial elections, the Technical Secretariat is quite satisfied with the process this far, following the deposit of lists under the Party’s ticket at Elecam.
It was at 2 : 00 am Sunday 29 that Elecam handed receipts to Ibrahim Talba Malla, Secretary for Organisation and member of the National Commission for the nomination of CPDM candidates for the senatorial election. The delegation charged with depositing lists of candidates had arrived the premises of Elecam the previous day at 7 :45 pm and had stayed while Elecam crosschecked to ensure that all was in order. At the close of it, the Talba Malla- led delegation took its leave of Elecam offices, already considering how to prepare the campaign for the election of its militants come 12 March 2023.
Before candidate’s files were deposited, ant hill tasks were undertaken at the regional commisions in charge of receiving and analyzing various candidacies. In fact, members of the various regional commissions devoted time and energy to examine each file, which according to Jean Fabien Monkam, Assistant Coordinator of the Technical Secretariat had to be in conformity with the directives contained in the National President’s Circular and the SG accompanying Note. To him, the bulk of the work was done at the level of the regions as the commission members amongst others had to ensure that such criteria as the gender, youth and representation were considered while drawing up the lists.
At the level of the Central Committee, the Techinical Secretariat Headed by Prof. Paul Célestine Ndembiyembe again scrutinized files from the regions alongside remarks made by members of the regional commissions on the choices. Only after this herculian task were proposals made to the National President, Paul Biya for his approval of selected CPDM Candidates.
With the selection phase now over, the CPDM is calmly preparing campaigns slated to begin on 23 February, for the massive election of CPDM lists.
