The celebration of the CPDM’s 38th anniversary was a fanfare and reflective occasion in Akono as militants reassessed progress in anticipation of major future stakes.
In order to maintain the section’s position as the heartbeat of the CPDM in the Mefou and Akono division, militants came out massively from all thirteen sub sections to celebrate and reaffirm their commitment.
For a section that has never faltered in its support for the CPDM and Paul Biya its National President, militants in the Mefou Akono South West section joined their counterparts nationwide to acknowledge the party’s leadership and praise themselves for being a relevant part of the story. The celebration, chaired by the Permanent Head of Delegation for the Central Committee and Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family; Prof. Marie Therese Abena Ondoa was also attended by top brass of the party from the division.
The celebration took place in the mythical giant Stall college hall marked by speeches, interspaced by musical presentations to the beautiful rythm of Mendzang.
In a keynote welcome address, the Mayor Ondoa Efala Alphons said, “the CPDM list had a 100% vote at the just ended senatorial elections as confirmed by the Constitutional council”. He hailed the creation of a new polytechnic which according to him will attract more people to the subdivision hence the need for more food production and supply. Job creation he said should be taken seriously too. “Let’s take advantage of the beautiful offer that this school will provide particularly in the Agro pastoral, commercial and touristic sectors. We must equip ourselves as we look forward to this jewel” he insisted.
The councillors and members of the senatorial new team were presented to the minister before she left for the other subdivisions.
The Section President Daniel Hippolyte Bickoe expressed gratitude to all the electors and actors for their different contributions. He nominally thanked them for their relentless efforts which according to him “are the reason for the day’s celebration”. The anniversary also availed locale authorities in Akono the opportunity to remind militants to get ready for major future stakes by registering on the voter’s lists. Daniel Hippolyte harped on the importance of preserving the CPDM family integrity in Akono. In his words “we must put all our internal and external enemies in check”, he said.
For the President of the women’s wing, Elian Ngono, the Akono woman has many reasons to support the new deal and its leadership. “Paul Biya has brought us to the lamplight, in return our support for him is total”; she said.
Akono is blessed with a dynamic and ambitious youth as per the vice president of the YCPDM, Mvondo Marcelin. They plan to stay firm in their pursuit of a brilliant future with their role model Paul Biya.
