The President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya and spouse Chantal Biya have left the country for a two-day summit in Paris, France.
It is in line with the wishes of the French President Emmanuel Macron, shared during the COP27 in Egypt. The issues at stake during the summit include the repercussions of the multiple climate, energy, health and economic crises, particularly in the most vulnerable countries. The financing needed to address these crises will also be central to the event’s programme.
Four major objectives for this Summit have been announced. The first is to restore fiscal space to countries facing short-term difficulties, especially the most indebted countries. The second is promoting private sector development in low-income countries. The third objective is encouraging investment in « green » infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing countries and the last is mobilising innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change. Amongst other dignitaries accompanying the head of state are Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations, Louis Paul Motaze, Minister of Finance and Alamine Ousmane Mey, Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development.
