Six weeks to the end of the 2023 registration exercise on the electoral lists, the whole arsenal of the Ngoketunjia I youth wing is mobilized to bring potential voters on board.
In their quest beat previous records, the youth wing is on a sensitization and mobilization move to win over new voters (youths) and get them registered. For this year, local authorities of the YCPDM in Ndop are fighting hard to catch up with the august 31 dead line for the closure of the voter registers. Pius Mingo, YCPDM section president is leaving nothing to chance as he and his team take advantage of every opportunity to step up their result-oriented plan.
The holiday period has offered them a golden opportunity as the youth president has been making inroads to nooks and crannies in the section to fish out eligible voters and educate them on the need to register. Pius Mingo is of the opinion that much can still be done in six weeks. To add to the work done on the field, he has activated and is now using social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and twitter to reach and lure youths of voting age to get registered.
According to him “Our youths have come a long way, the imposed crisis and resultant effects has served them a bitter lesson. Most of them want to make a difference, we want to contribute in building Cameroon and registration is what give us a voice; all the youths need is guidance. This is exactly what we are doing”, he said.
The holiday period makes it easy for Mingo and his sensitzation and mobilization team to reach a greater number of youths at the same time. In the words of the YCPDM sections president, “Our goal is to reach every youth of voting age. We plan to ensure an optimal enrolment of youths on the Lists before august 31 when the exercise runs out. This is the best we can do to prepare for future elections that are already pointing in the horizon”, he insisted.
To achieve this, he has been targeting youth agglomeration centers in the section such as holiday and leisure sport grounds, market places and cultural events to pass across his message.
For a youth that has been through thick and thin due to an unjustified crisis that has seen many of their peers maimed, some killed and others rendered homeless, their determination to build a strong youth force with a strong desire to build the future today is unbeatable. Pius Mingo plans to keep this flame till the 31 of august 2023.
