It was to send a clear message that Manyu shall not be intimidated by secessionist terrorists that militants of the CPDM turned out massively to celebrate Paul Biya, man of the New Deal.
Despite the macabre act committed by secessionist terrorists, hours before the commemoration of President Paul Biya’s anniversary at the helm of the state, militants and sympathisers under their leader H.E Victor Mengot, head of the Permanent Divisional Delegation of the CPDM Central Committee to Manyu, converged on the Mamfe Town Hall, venue of the celebrations. According to Minister Victor Mengot, “putting off the celebration would be an act of capitulation to the secessionists. The celebrations must go on to send a clear message that Manyu shall not be intimidated”. The event started with prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the slain compatriots, as flag-waving militants clad in white T-shirts intoned the national anthem to emphasize the patriotic spirit of the celebration of the New Deal under President Paul Biya’s enlightened leadership.
H.E Victor Mengot, Head of the PDD/CC for Manyu chaired the proceedings in the presence of the Senate Vice President, Chief Tabetando Ndiepnso, the S.D.O of Manyu and an array of internal and external political elite of Manyu.
Various speakers at the event representing all the 3 wings of the party and each of the 4 Sections of Manyu celebrated the achievement of the New Deal and called for God’s protection and continued inspiration for President BIYA to continue nation-building. They assured the Head of State of the staunch support of Manyu Division in the 2025 presidential election and called on him to be their candidate in the election.
Chief Tabetando, Vice President at the Senate reiterated the call for those who have taken up arms against the State to abandon their futile project and embrace the head of State’s outstretched hand of leniency by dropping their arms and leaving the bushes.
Before his keynote address, the Head of the PDD/CC for Manyu welcomed a group of new militants who have all freely chosen to join the ranks of the CPDM from the few political parties that still exist in Manyu Division. Minister Mengot paid credit to the unshakable foundations of Democracy in Cameroon laid by President Paul Biya and called to mind the numerous projects in all sectors of national life, put in place to prepare Cameroon for emergence come 2035.
On the sidelines of the celebrations, the South West Regional Assembly through the voice of its Commissioner for Education, Sports and Culture, Mr. Tarkang Walters Ayuk, announced a 350-Million Francs project for the reconstruction of the Mamfe District Hospital in partnership with the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction of the South West & North West Regions and the Council Support Fund, FEICOM.
