The youth wing of the CPDM Ngoketunjia I Section in Ndop, is engaged in a sensitization and reconquering mission in the bid to register youths of voting age ahead of election year.
Under the leadership of the YCPDM Section President Pius Mukrongho Mingo in collaboration with the section president Dr. Ntoh Daniel Belenka and other local authorities the youth wing is the live wire and vital energy in these parts.
The Section president, and the YCPDM section president are working hand in glove to bring all CPDM militants to register with emphasis on the youths who constitute the greatest number. Plans are that all nooks and crannies of the section will be combed from January to ensure that every youth of voting age registers.
According to Pius Mingo “a lot of sensitization work was done last year 2023, but 2024 is more determining. It is the eve of elections and we must match words with actions”, he said. Every youth of voting age is expected to be in possession of a birth certificate and an Identity card. These are key documents which give access to any individual to be registered. “We understand that some youths of voting age are yet to acquire these documents. We are identifying such cases in other to bring them the necessary support for their obtainment of these documents”; Mingo said. “This is the only way by which we can be accountable”, he continued.
The Ngoketuniaia I section is made up of four main villages which are Bambalang, Bamali, Bamessing and Bamungka. All four villages have an active youth population. According to the YCPDM section president, “Our youth is a force to reckon with when it comes to nation building, the preservation of peace and unity”, Mingo Emphasized. Recent streams of negative information, and atrocious acts of violence by separatists put the majority of these youths who want to genuinely contribute to the growth of the nation at cross roads. With the return of peace and normal life, their focus is being redirected to make sure that the errors that brought about the crisis and which misled some of the youths should be corrected. Some who had become reticent in the affairs of the nation due to fear, are being reeducated. “We don’t cease to remind them that they will not have another country than Cameroon, as such it is in the best of interests for them to join hands to build the Cameroon they want and to do this, they must be concerned, hence contribute by voting”, he insisted. Ndop is situated in the Ngoketunjia division of the North west region of Cameroon.
