Meeting in Bamenda–Up station on 29 February in a joint section conference, the militants of 29 sub sections of Momo V reassigned themselves to CPDM activities.
In respect of the by-laws of the CPDM party which requires sections to hold bi annual conferences to assess progress made on the field and to chat the way forward, local authorities of the Momo V under the leadership of Stephen Ujambeng; section president convened militants to take stock of the party’s activities. This is a timely meeting which aimed at availing local authorities with apple information on the stat of preparedness of the subsections vis a vis the mobilization and registration of militants on the voter’s registers. For a difficult terrain like Ngie where sporadic attacks, particularly targeted at CPDM militants are recurrent, Ujambeng Stephen, thought it wise to organize his conference in Bamenda for the security of militants.
Top on the agenda during the joint section conference was the evaluation, sensitization and the education of militants on the importance of registering on the voter registers. According to Stephen Ujambeng, “The strength of any political party is its ability to win elections. If a party cannot contest and win elections then its foundation is shaky, but our party the CPDM has proven it worth over the years and being a well-structured and organized party it is a right step in the right direction to educate our militants given that we are just a few month away from crucial elections”, he said.
Another aspect that figured prominently in the discussions during the joint section conference was discipline. In the words of Ujambeng “the CPDM encourages discipline. “It is our responsibility as local authorities to inculcate these values in our militants and this can only be achieved by educating them”, he insisted. The responsibility of the elected officials towards the people was another very crucial topic that was discussed. “As elected officials, we must not lose sight of the fact that we have a mandate that has been given us by the people, and because we are invested by the CPDM it expects results hence our credibility to the people and the party alike”, he emphasized.
Another joint section conference has been planned to take place in the month of August and this the section president said “will be the last before the elective years starts”. Militants have been advised to remain steadfast to the CPDM and above all be vigilant and keep safe given the present state of the region.
