Militants of the CPDM came out in their numbers from all 21 subsections of the Mefou and Akono South West on May 20 to celebrate the 52nd edition of the National day.
The colorful ceremony that was chaired by the Divisional Officer, Biyele Lessouga Celine epse Mbida Voundi availed Cameroonians in this part of the country the opportunity to reiterate their love for country and to project in the future with hope. The celebration in Akono saw an unmatched enthusiasm from all participants. They flooded the esplanade of the divisional office early enough to give the day its essence and grandeur. For a nation that is brazing up to a landmark event come 2025, every responsible citizen is poised to make their voice heard by participating actively in events such as the national day.
The military set the ball rolling, marching vigorously to the appreciation of the population followed by schools ranging from the basic elementary to High, vocational and professional schools. Groups and associations were not lefts out as all marched past the tribune chanting patriotic songs of Cameroon’s unity and peace. Messages abound as they carried them proudly on banners. Vividly one could read messages like “Let’s get registered on the voters lists and vote when time comes”, “Together for a United Cameroon”, “Unity in diversity together let’s build Cameroon”, to name but these.
The icing on the cake came with the powerful passage of the CPDM Led by the Section President of the Mefou and Akono South West section Daniel Hippolyte Bickoe, always with his beautiful and indefatigable Cathy Bickoe like Chantal Biya by his side. Ellian Ngono, the WCPDM president, the YCPDM section president, Subsection presidents and militants all like one man carried effigies of their hero as they sang “Paul Biya, our President……. Seven more years”.
It was an all enclosing celebration with residents from the Noun, the extreme north, the English speaking parts of Cameroon living peacefully in Akono saying thank you to President Paul Biya for National integration. All used the occasion of the National day to Salute the progress made this far and to say their unadulterated love for Paul Biya, the major architect of Cameroon’s unity, peace and stability. They have continued to call on Paul Biya to be their candidate for the 2025 elections.
Akono is a bastion of the CPDM by excellence and a discordant voice as per the choice of the people of Akono, and CPDM militants in the section is yet to be heard.
