Bangou : Upper Plateau South Makes Case for Biya’s Presidency

The militants of the Upper Plateau South Section of the CPDM celebrated the party’s 40th anniversary on 24 March 2025 in style, with a rally that ended with a march at the Rosette Mboutchouang Avenue in Bangou, Upper Plateau Division of the West region.

The event was marked by passionate appeals for President Paul Biya to run for re-election in the upcoming presidential elections.

Mayor of Bangou Council Sikapin Paul set the tone for the rally, enumerating CPDM’s achievements under its leadership. He highlighted the construction and equipment of schools and classrooms, rehabilitation of roads, extension of electricity and water supply, among others, as strong points to campaign for Biya’s re-election.

The YCPDM and WCPDM Section presidents took it a step further, pledging 100 percent support from women and youths for Biya’s candidacy. They called on the Section President to convey their undiluted support to the President.

Mr. Ngoameni Sime Stephane, in an exposé on the CPDM’s journey since its creation in Bamenda, praised the party’s resilience and achievements despite challenges. He noted that the CPDM-led government has achieved more in unity than the opposition wants to admit.

Section President Datouo Theodore, who also serves as Vice President of the National Assembly, was applauded for steering the construction of the complex, now named Paul Biya Glass House. Hon. Datouo Theodore urged militants to remain steadfast, stating that Bangou is ready for the campaigns and elections.

The event was marked by varied financial and material donations from elites, including 150 bags of rice from Luc Sinjoun and 1.5 tons of improved maize seeds from Honourables Datouo Theodore and Ngoko Mambe Marie-Louise. The Section President acknowledged the contributions, saying the CPDM is mature and stable at 40.

The anniversary celebration ended with a call from militants for Biya to be their candidate in the upcoming presidential elections, setting the stage for an intense campaign season.
