Ngoketunjia Division : Hon. Njingum Warns Corrupt Security Officers

The Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North Constituency has denounced rampant corruption amongst security forces, insisting that their bearing on the already vulnerable population is enormous.

Hon. Njingum Musa, a people oriented CPDM parliamentarian has continued to decry the difficult situation in which the ordinary man is his constituency is trapped in. In his words these people are caught in a vicious cycle of oppression, on the one hand separatist fighters terrorizing them with kidnappings for ransom, and on the other, those tasked with ensuring their security who have become predators, weaponizing arrests to extract tips from already impoverished farmers.

A situation which the Member of Parliament described as deplorable. He has thus called for an immediate stop to such practices which he termed “inhuman”. Hon. Njingum Musa did not mince words in holding law enforcement accountable, calling their conduct “a disgrace to the uniform they wear.” He demanded an immediate cessation of these practices and warned that should they persist; he would report the matter through the appropriate channels.

He described the actions of these officers as a gross betrayal of their mandate and a deep stain on the integrity of the state. According to him, farmers—who already toil under dire conditions—are subjected to relentless financial bleeding in the hands of corrupt security personnel, who arrest them under false pretenses and demand payments for their release.

“I have instructed the population to report every instance of extortion directly to me. If this misconduct continues, I will take further action,” he emphasized.

This is a very bold stance by the MP and a right step in the right direction. Corruption is one of the vices that the National President of the CPDM frowns at and Njingum Musa is only relaying and enforcing the decision of the Head of State on the field hence maintaining public trust in state institutions altogether.
