Through the initiative of the minister, elite within and out of Cameroon have kick started a fund drive to help rebuild the damaged medical facility.
As the population of Manyu Division continue to weep over the arson attack of the largest health facility in the division, elite at home and abroad have immediately kicked started a fund drive to reconstruct the damaged health facility. The initiative championed by minister Victor Arrey Mengot, has attracted the entire Manyu community who responded spontaneously to the Minister’s appeal. Through the initiative, financial donations are being galvanized at all levels to raise a substantial amount to kick off the reconstruction of the Mamfe District Hospital. The sad incident as narrated by some of the elite is a big blow to the population of Manyu, given that the largest health facility set ablaze has until now remained the go-to-hospital in the division.
The fundraising as explained by the initiator, Minister Mengot, is aimed at restoring some of the major facilities destroyed, so that the health facility can continue to function. While opening up the fund drive with a colossal sum, the minister pleaded with all sons and daughters of the peace loving and friendly Manyu Division to stand as one, deep their hands in the pockets and sacrifice for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the destroyed Mamfe District Hospital. He said that the commitment of the son’s and daughters of Manyu, as well as friends of the division, will go a long way to revive the damaged facility, while waiting on the state to intervene. Minister Mengot regretted the sad incident and pleaded with the local population to stand firm against separatists, by denouncing them and reporting all their activities to the administration and the military.
The fundraising is expected to run for a month. The fund drive, it should be noted, came few days after the population of Mamfe protested through street march, following the barbaric incident carried out by separatists on the Mamfe district hospital. The initiative of the minister has caused the elite of Manyu Division especially those in the country, sympathisers to offer support to help remedy the situation.
The solidarity among the Manyu elite, on their difficult moment, has attracted support from persons not from the division. They have joined the fund drive in sympathy for the affected Manyu division.
