Militants of the CPDM in the Mefou and Akono South West section reechoed their willingness to live together on February 11 as they celebrated the National Youth Day.
They came from all the sub sections that make up Akono as militants. There was neither anglophone nor Francophone just militants of the CPDM. They could be identified by their beautiful party uniforms and T-shirts. Informative banners and effigies of the National President carried militants spoke volumes of the undiluted love and attachment of a people united in love and unity.
The event in Akono took place at the esplanade of the divisional office in the presence of the divisional officer, political and traditional authorities of the subdivision.
Section President Daniel Hippolyte Bickoe satisfied with the massive turnout and the bond that binds the militants. According to him, “This is the fruit of an unwavering and constant mobilization. Militants of the CPDM from the three wings in Akono are grateful the President Paul Biya for so much and the only way to demonstrate this is by putting his beadings to practice. Living together as prescribed by our National President is a reality here”, he affirmed.
Shortly after the replay of the message of the Head of State to the youths at the eve of the youth day, the march past proper began led by the Anglophone youth and cultural association of Akono. This was to demonstrate of the full integration of English speakers in the section and also the respect of President Biya’s idea for every Cameroonian to feel at home in any part of the country. According to Tah Rose, an anglophone resident in Akono from the North west region and a militant of the CPDM, “Akono has been my home for sixteen years. It is also home to many other anglophones with whom we live here. We live in peace and carry out any economic activity of our choice without any problem. The people of Akono are very hospitable and we are at home here”, she said.
The march past went on for over three hours with the participation of nursery, primary secondary and vocational schools. They chanted patriotic songs as they carried the national flag. Cultural activities were also showcased and at the end schools that performed well received prizes.
The CPDM, voice of the National President on the field was powerfully involved.
