Over six motions of gratitude from different stakeholders in Meme have been channel to the President of the Republic through the Meme SDO.
Motions of support from political elite, Meme chiefs conference, Bafaw chiefs, Kumba traditional council, Kumba quarter Heads, were on Wednesday 5 April, channelled through the SDO for Meme to the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, thanking him for the appointment of Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, as Senator.
The motions were handed to the Meme administration, during a home coming occasion organised to receive the newly appointed Senator into the city of Kumba. The various presenters hailed President Biya for once more bring Kumba into the spotlight, by appointing their chief to replace his late father in the Senate. They promised to remain committed and steadfast in their support for the head of state and the ruling CPDM party. They equally promised their unconditional support and collaboration to the new Senator to enable him succeed in the task assign to him by the Head of state.
The secretary general of the Meme chiefs conference, HRH Chief Ivens Nofuruh, on behalf of the chiefs, saluted the appointment and noted that Meme chiefs are very proud for having one of theirs in the upper House of parliament.
On his part, the senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Chamberlin Ntou’Ou Ndong, expressed gratitude to the Head of state for placing Meme Division among his choices. He said the appointment has added the number of elites in Meme. With such addition, he urged that collaboration and team work will enable Meme Division to benefit enormously. He pleaded that the various elite should help resolve the issue of ghost town, which is hindering socio-economic development of Meme Division.
Reacting to the mammoth crowd that turn out, the new Senator thank the Head of state for the confidence bestowed on him and promised to uphold the confidence. He promised to serve the state and Cameroonians with all diligence.
The mammoth crowd that turn that filled the both sides of the Buea road highway, the long convoy of vehicles, the manifestations of the Bafaw traditional security, the display by the CCAS Kumba band, were some of the elements that added colour to the home coming event. From the entrance into the city of Kumba at Kang Barombi, the convoy patrol to the various ends of the city, cutting across the three subdivisions, presenting the new Senator to his subjects.
