Wum Council recently concluded its annual review and approval process for the 2023 administrative and management accounts in the Town Hall of the Council on a positive score.
The adopted accounts revealed a total revenue of 859,840,780 FCFA for the 2023 fiscal year. This impressive figure represents a 70.15% revenue realization rate, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the economic challenges faced by the Wum community. The Council’s focus on service charge collection, government grants, and minimizing revenue leakages is commendable and has directly benefited the municipality.
This public event, held at the Wum Town Hall, provided a transparent overview of the Council’s financial health and its dedication to the well-being of Wum residents.
The core areas of the Council’s expenditure were strategically allocated to essential services such as education, healthcare, and road maintenance. This allocation reflects the council executive commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its citizens. The remaining funds were utilized for administrative purposes, ensuring transparency and accountability with the majority of resources directed towards community development projects.
Some projects achieved during the 2023 fiscal year include the construction of six new classrooms in three primary schools – GS Nyio, GS Tsakendze, GS Kwen, supply of essential furniture to these schools, building a rest house/restaurant and market stalls to boost the local economy, construction of bridges to improve connectivity within the community, implementing a water supply scheme and installing solar street lights, among others.
The Council further secured loans which facilitated the construction of two additional bridges, enhancing accessibility within Wum. This collaborative approach demonstrates the proactiveness of the council leadership in securing resources for vital infrastructure projects.
The Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum, Abdoullahi Aliou applauded the Mayor, Dighambong Anthony Mvo and his team for the responsible management practices of Wum Council.
