Under the banner of Africlove – an association that groups Cameroonians abroad, Merime Cesair Nguintsop led a delegation that met with members of REPCOD last January 14, 2022.
The audience that was granted the Merime Cesair – led delegation was to present Cameroonians excelling in diverse domains in the diaspora and who have distinguished themselves by investing in Cameroon. It filtered out that the dynamic Cameroonians are also involved in detecting and promoting talent amongst their compatriots. On hand to receive them, Senator Andrew Otte Mofa, vice president of the network of Parliamentarians for the Diaspora, Decentralised and Cross-border Cooperation – REPCOD, expressed the network’s readiness to help Cameroonians residing abroad attain their investment objectives back home.
According to the president of Africlove, the laureates presented to members of REPCOD are diasporians who are involved in developmental activities in the country. Thankful that the parliamentary platform was acting as a linchpin between those in the diaspora and the administration back home, Merime Cesair said it would further spur the aspirations of men and women who are making a name for themselves away from home. “We thank him for honouring us by coming to their house that was given to them by President Paul Biya. Many Cameroonians are interested in and involved in local development in such areas as agricultural production and wood transformation and so we encourage them to make advantage of imports substitution by producing materials locally so we don’t depend on importation” Senator Otte Andrew said.
Other members of REPCOD congratulated and encouraged the patriotic and dynamic Cameroonians to continue investing in the country while telling their peers to do same.
Earlier on January 9, 2022, the president of REPCOD Hon. Henri Ngantcha was received by members of the executive board of the association of French elected officials of Cameroonian origin. The meeting was used to discuss how to further advocate for sponsorship within the framework of decentralized cooperation (councils and regional structures) and forge solid collaboration links between REPCOD and the association in favour of cross-border cooperation. The association of French elected officials used the occasion to address a letter of thanks to President Paul Biya a headquarters to REPCOD which is now serving as a house and office space for Cameroonians coming from abroad.
