Going by the directives in the Circular regarding 6 November celebrations, roles are clearly defined and collaboration at all levels will make the feast memorable.
The achievements of the New Deal that clocks forty come 6 November will be celebrated at the level of the Sections of the CPDM. As such, Section presidents who are elected grassroots bosses have the task of making the organisation smooth and worth the salt. As it is common place within the party, the collaboration of all is needed for success to be resounding. This explains the SG’s call for Section presidents to be in tandem with presidents of the WCPDM and YCPDM to ensure the massive mobilisation of militants.
In the past, such occasions have been grounds for power tussles, with militants wanting to play roles and assume functions not assigned to them. This time around, the cacophony sometimes witnessed will not have its place it is clearly stated that heads of Permanent Regional Delegations of the Central Committee will preside over celebrations “acting particularly on the occasion as representatives of the Secretary General of the Central Committee”.
The man of the day will most certainly be Paul Biya but far from his person, his actions are what will be in the lime light. As militants are called to strike a balance between festive celebrations and moments of creative and innovative thoughts, it will be the occasion to once more commit as unalloyed supporters of the President to follow the principles and values he incarnates.
The challenges facing the nation abound. Security – chipped away by some outlaws in certain localities, living together – threatened by multiple upheavals, peace, solidarity and social justice – shaken by the demons of division. These are clear reminders that away from political discourse, militants will be expected to tender suggestions and proposals which further the struggle to make the country a cherished haven. The economic growth of the nation, the efficient implementation of public policies and meeting the legitimate expectations of youths are some of the lines of discussion that ought to give meaning to the overall festivities.
