Executive Meeting : Italy Section Revives Party Activities

The CPDM Italy Section executive has decided to relaunch activities to make the party vibrant as well as organize a funeral service in honour of Kom Helen, one of theirs who died recently.

The meeting of executive members was held via whatsapp last August 28. In attendance were the Section president Eric Sandjo Tonga, his Vice Sandrine Ottou, the Secretary Frederick Ndang Nchaw the Delegate for training Natalie Medha, and Manuela Elisa Ngangue. Also present was comrade Banneck who together with the other participants of the online meeting discussed the functioning of the section which has been grappling with the effects of Covid-19 and how to bring back activities.
Eric Serge Sandjo Tonga thanked everyone who had made time from their tight schedules to take part in the online meeting. He noted that the meeting was primarily to get together again to examine the state of affairs of the section. Discussions centered on the timing and place of the Section’s second statutory conference, the commemoration of the anniversary of President Paul Biya’s accession to power and their involvement in the funeral of Helen Kom, a dynamic militant who passed away last month. With regard to the holding of the section conference, it was decided that it would be in Rome on November 6, in prelude to commemoration of the anniversary of President Paul Biya’s accession to power. This joint event, the executive agreed would cut down on expenses for the militants. Meanwhile, they were unanimous that they needed to mobilize resources for a funeral service in honour of Helen Kom who had served in the Cameroon Embassy for more than two decades.
Frederick Ndang Nchaw nonetheless urged the Section Executive to be diligent with responsibilities bestowed on them, be more committed in handling Party issues as was before the creation of the Section. He said times were changing and as grassroots leaders of the ruling Party, they had a huge responsibility to keep the affairs of the party on stable ground. Members of the executive planned to visit Perugia, to revamp the Cells there and encouraged others to honour invitations from lower organs to help them stand firm. The hope of the Italy Section Executive is for the militants to remain committed especially given the rather morose economic context which has left many jobless and in need of assistance.
