The 56th edition of the Youth Day celebration in the North West will be commemorated within a special context; that of youth resilience and hope, Governor Lele L’Afrique Adolphe has revealed.

Presiding at the launching of youth week activities in the North West at the Military Stadium Up-Station, Bamenda, North West Regional Chieftain remarked that the turn out for the youth week launch by far outnumbered that of previous years since 2017.
A total of fourteen institutions of learning from basic to higher education and vocational training representative of Bamenda I, II and III municipalities, public and lay-private, ex-fighters from the DDR Centre turned up to debut the youth week activities of 2022 in the region.
“The presence of our young people from the DDR centre, who have come here triumphantly and executed successfully our national anthem…is a great opportunity; the celebration of our youth day for young people to reflect on major challenges facing the nation, an opportunity to show our commitment to the value of the republic, to express your love for the fatherland”, Governor Lele enjoined the youths.
Such turn out, Governor Lele observed, is thanks to the ceaseless efforts of stakeholders in the educational sector, together with security forces to see the resumption of schools like was the case before 2016. The resilience and bravery of the learners and teachers the governor noted, cannot be undermined.
It was an opportunity for the North West regional boss to re-echo a call to parents, local administrators and traditional leaders to encourage children of school going age to embrace education and return to the classrooms, using the massive turnout as a source of inspiration.
“I will like to remobilize the parents, school community to help the administrative authority, the municipal authority, the traditional authority to remobilize our children back to school”, he said.
The day which was marked by parades, traditional dance performances, a football match saw the over one thousand young people who answered present resonate historic glories this day in the yester-years when young people pride themselves as a mark of recognition of the nation. The Youth Day will be commemorated this year under the theme: “Youth and Voluntary Participation in the Major Challenges of Cameroon”.
