Kumba : MP Empowers Militants

Farm inputs such as maize, yams and plantains seedlings were distributed to CPDM militants in Kumba, Konye and Mbonge subdivisions.

The CPDM member of parliament for Kumba Urban constituency, Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia, last week distributed consignment of planting seedlings to farmers of Kumba, Konye and Mbonge subdivisions. The farm seedlings comprised of maize, yams, cassava, and plantains.
The donations he said is to improve agricultural productivity, and empower the militants financially. While handing over these seedlings to farmers, through the different section presidents, the MP said” this is the planting season and most of our militants are farmers. With the saying that goes’a hungry man is an angry man’, I decided to offer these materials to help our militants increase production and fight against hunger and poverty. The production will help provide food to their families as well as income from the sale of these foodstuffs. Since most of our militants are farmers, I decided to impact their lives with this little gesture which I believe will touch the lives of many”.
The member of parliament pleaded with the beneficiaries to make good use of the donation, and avoid the receive and sell syndrome, which is typical of most farmers.
On behalf of the militants, the section presidents extend gratitude to the MP for always thinking of their well-being. They say such kind gesture helps to bind militants and commit them to party activities. All the beneficiary militants were called upon to assemble at their different sections for the distribution of the seedlings.
It should be mentioned that last week also, the MP was part of a delegation comprising Senator Andrew Otte Mofa and the South West Regional assembly president, Zacheus Elango Bakoma, to donate foodstuffs to the Muslim community in Kumba, as they go on with fasting.
