Amidst the persistent shadows of insecurity, the militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) demonstrated an unwavering spirit of resilience and commitment throughout 2024.
The unwavering commitment of CPDM militants in Bui division throughout 2024 was evident in their participation in various party activities. Despite fears of violence, many gathered to celebrate, share meals, and engage in discussions about local projects supported by the party. Financial contributions from various sources, including the Central Committee and local leaders, underscored the party’s dedication to its members. Organising rallies and celebrating various anniversaries including Paul Biya’s accession to power were a testament to the determination of CPDM grassroots leaders and their militants to forge ahead despite the challenges posed by separatist attacks and instability.
In the face of adversity, the grassroots leaders of the CPDM took up the mantle of mobilizing their comrades. They instilled a sense of purpose among militants, urging them to remain steadfast in their support for the party. The Section President of Bui I-B emphasized the importance of unity, urging everyone to come together in support of their political ideals, despite the threats from separatist groups.
Militants of CPDM Sections of Kumbo central, Jakiri, Mbiami, Nkum, Oku have refused to be cowed by the constant attacks by separatists. Under the stewardship of Asheri Kilo, interim Head of the Permanent Divisional Delegation of the Central committee, grassroots leaders continue to mobilise militants ahead of upcoming electoral stakes. Authorities in the area have not ceased to reassure the population of the government’s effort to bring lasting solutions to the crisis and restore peace, requisite for development.
As Cameroon gears up for the presidential elections in October 2025, the CPDM’s preparations are already underway. Grassroots leaders are mobilizing their communities to revisit electoral registers, ensuring that every voice is heard and every vote counted. The anticipation surrounding the elections serves as both a challenge and an opportunity for the party, as militants are encouraged to stay engaged and proactive. The determination of CPDM militants in Bui Division serves as a powerful narrative of hope and unity. Their unwavering spirit reflects a broader aspiration for stability and progress in Cameroon, positioning them to play a pivotal role in the nation’s democratic future.
