Nkor/Oku Municipalities : Senator Ema Lafon Boosts Education

With a generous donation of over 1000 mixed textbooks, printing ink, 120 school bags, pens, and reams of paper, Senator Ema Lafon has made a significant contribution to the education sector.

The donation, which was received by the Mayor of Nkor Council, Nchanji Germanous, under the Bui Education Programme, aims to enhance education and boost research in the municipality. « The only treasure a parent can give a child is education, » Mayor Nchanji said, expressing his gratitude to Senator Ema Lafon.

Senator Ema Lafon has consistently demonstrated his commitment to education in the region, having donated computers to schools in the municipality last year. Mayor Nchanji is optimistic that the donated materials will have a positive impact on the education sector. « There can never be any effective learning and teaching without textbooks, » he emphasized.

The donated textbooks will be deposited in the Nkor Municipal library, making them accessible to students from all schools in the municipality. Mayor Nchanji urged the school heads and librarian to guard against wanton use of the books, noting that « books will serve generations to come. » He insisted that textbooks remain an eternal source of knowledge for learners no matter the age.

Unfortunately, the municipality has been affected by school hold-ups, which have had a devastating impact on the children. Mayor Nchanji stressed that education is a fundamental right of every child and that refusing children access to education is a hideous crime. « Any child who doesn’t go to school has no future, » he warned.

This donation is part of Senator Ema Lafon’s ongoing efforts to support education in Bui division. A similar donation of school supplies was made to schools in Oku, one of the subdivisions of the Bui Division of the North West region. The materials, which included books, textbooks, pens, pencils, benches, and chairs, are safeguarded in the school for communal use.
