Paul Biya Glass House : Symbol of Gratitude for Enduring Legacy

The National Assembly of Cameroon has officially been christened the Paul Biya Glass House, a fitting tribute to the President’s monumental contributions to the nation’s development.

President Paul Biya’s legacy is etched in the very fabric of Cameroon’s progress, from infrastructure development to economic growth, and his dedication to the welfare of its citizens. Under his visionary leadership, Cameroon has witnessed significant advancements in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The President’s commitment to peace, stability, and unity has created a conducive environment for growth and development.

As Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute aptly put it during the christening ceremony on 25 April 2025, “the elegance of the building merits the name it now bears”. This statement underscores the grandeur and majesty of the Paul Biya Glass House, a symbol of Cameroon’s aspirations for a brighter future.

In his address, Speaker Cavaye Yeguie Djibril praised President Biya’s selfless service to the nation, stating, “the President has given his all to Cameroon, and we are grateful for his vision and leadership”. The Speaker emphasized that the naming of the complex after President Biya was a token of appreciation from the National Assembly.

During the ceremony, special recognition was accorded to the MPs who played a pivotal role in bringing this project to fruition. Honorables Datouo Théodore, Muyali Boya Mary épse Meboka, Mvondo Assam, Djomgoue Paul Eric, and Jean Philippe Ongola were awarded medals for their tireless efforts. Two engineers who contributed to the project but sadly passed away were also honoured posthumously.

The unveiling of the plaque marked the culmination of the ceremony. As the Paul Biya Glass House takes its place as a landmark in the city of Yaoundé, City Mayor Luc Messi Atangana pledged to provide support in maintaining the edifice’s beauty, ensuring it remains a source of pride for the nation. This gesture underscores the importance of preserving the architectural gem for future generations.
