The Executive met on 27 October, concluding that the celebration of President Paul Biya’s accession to the helm of the state will be on November 9 in Rome.
CPDM militants in Italy never miss an occasion to renew their commitment and loyalty to President Paul Biya and the party. The celebration of the New Deal at 42 is another such opportunity, which the Section intends to use to pledge unalloyed support to the one who incarnates the State and its institution, reflect on the road covered this far and project ahead of the 2025 elections.
According to the Secretary of the Section, Frederick Ndang Nchaw, the day will commence with a mass service to pray for Cameroon and this will not only be attended by CPDM militants but also the community of Cameroonians residing there. “Later in the day, we will hold our rally proper during which we will reflect on the theme chosen for this year and other salient issues contained in the circular that was signed by the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Jean Nkuété”.
Having planned to hold their statutory section conference during this period, the executive is still to settle on this given the stakes of next year’s elections. One of the issues planned for the section conference is the assessment of militant’s card indexes and ascertain that addresses of militants are mastered. The section executive also intends to draw a balance sheet of the section’s finances and assess the availability of funds for campaigns in upcoming elections. Despite the tight schedules of militants in the diaspora, the executive of Italy Section takes advantage of social media to hold meetings, which permits them to stay abreast of information as well as keep their comrades updated.
The Section has already sent out word to sub section executives to massively attend the celebration which will be in Rome and would pave the way for further discussions on progress made in Cameroon under the New Deal of President Paul Biya. Following the urge by the Secretary General to “make this 6 November 2024 a memorable day” the militants of Italy Section are putting all in place for this directive to be respected. This year, the theme chosen for the celebration is “Let us all mobilise as one behind President Paul Biya, to ensure the stability and progress of Cameroon around the ideals of peace and national unity”.
