October Presidential : Manyemen Chief mobilises community for Biya’s Victory

The huge back to school donation, FCFA 2.5 million inter quarter football tournament, voter registration and distribution of voters cards, are different avenues the chief exploited to galvanize his community ahead of the October 12 presidential election.

The chiefdom of Manyemen in Nguti subdivision, of the Kupe Muanenguba Division, South West region, is set to give president Biya a resounding 100 percent victory come October 12. The different quarters of the chiefdom are fully mobilised and ready.

The mobilisation is thanks to the efforts and financial sacrifices of the ruler of Manyemen, HRM chief Besong Williams. The young and dynamic traditional ruler, an active militant of the CPDM party believes that peace, unity and love can only be restored to his community through humanitarian actions and sports. To achieve this, the chief organized a football tournament this year with the sum of FCFA 2.5 million, for the youths to come together in solidarity. Though the football tournament is a yearly event, this year’s witnessed a different twist, with the village vibrating in it’s original form.

The next move was to prepare the community for the reopening of the academic year. Here all children of school going age, from basic to secondary received school didactics from the chief. More thank 1000 school children benefitted from this donation.

Politically, to position the chiefdom to play an active role in Nguti and Kupe Muanenguba politics, the chief mobilised his community to enroll on the Elecam voter register. This was done on two different occasions, with a massive participation of the community. There after another move was aimed at distribution of voters cards. In partnership with Elecam, the chief has facilitated the distribution of voters cards in his chiefdom, arming all voters ahead of October 12.

The core message in all these activities has been « Manyemen for Biya come October 12″. The locals have come to one conclusion, to rally behind their traditional ruler who they believe can not mislead them. They have promised to deliver a 100 percent victory come October 12. One local stated » Manyemen being the largest village in Nguti subdivision, is set to deliver a massive vote for President Biya. Our turnout and result will proof itself on voting day ». Manyemen inhabitants say, through the CPDM, they are sure of achieving much, with electricity they already enjoy thanks to their senior elite and political leader, Okie Johnson Ndoh.

Chief Besong Williams, the traditional ruler of Manyemen village says that it is only through the CPDM party that his vision for his community can be achieved.  » Manyemen village has suffered severely from the oppressions of armed separatists. Developments have been stalled and the population dispersed. Despite all these, the people remained resilient and determined to conquer fear and threats. When it was the right time, my people rose as one and say no to armed separatists. By this action the community restored it original form« .

Though a bastion of the CPDM party, Manyemen people needed to be reunited again, stand as one and take decisions that will benefit the community. To achieve this unity and deliver results to the CPDM candidate, the chief stated  » I have used football tournament, back to school donation, and other charitable works to bring the population together. My people have taken the commitment to remain united and love one another. They have equally promised a 100 percent victory for president Biya come October 12« .
