On March 24, the CPDM will celebrate the 41st anniversary of its creation, a moment that places the spotlight on the party’s enduring pledge to national unity, peace and development under the leadership of its National President, Paul Biya.
Forty-one years after its creation, the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement continues to stand as the principal political force structuring Cameroon’s democratic life and accompanying the nation on the path of stability, unity and progress. This is the central message conveyed in the circular signed by the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Jean Nkuété, ahead of the celebration of the party’s 41st anniversary on March 24. Addressed to party leaders and militants across all structures, the document situates the commemoration within a context of political dynamism following the presidential election of October 12, 2025.
For the party leadership, the anniversary offers a privileged moment to pay homage to the visionary statesmanship of the National President, Paul Biya, whose wisdom, political experience and steadfast commitment to the nation have, over the decades, consolidated the CPDM as the party of national cohesion and responsible governance.
The circular underscores that the victory recorded during the 2025 presidential election illustrates the profound confidence that the Cameroonian people continue to place in the leadership of President Paul Biya and in the political project championed by the CPDM. This electoral triumph was made possible thanks to the exemplary discipline, loyalty and mobilisation of party militants who worked tirelessly across the national territory to defend the ideals of the CPDM.
Yet, while the anniversary will be marked by celebration, the party leadership equally calls for vigilance and renewed commitment.
With the evolving political landscape the CPDM intends to remain at the forefront by adapting its strategies while remaining faithful to its core values. The Secretary General has urged party structures to organise consultations and forward-looking reflections aimed at consolidating the party’s grassroots presence and preparing effectively for the next electoral deadlines.
After securing majorities in the Senate and establishing leadership across regional councils, the CPDM now sets its sights on achieving equally decisive victories at the level of the National Assembly and municipal councils. This explains why the circular highlights the importance of strengthening the party’s sociological diversity and widening its appeal, particularly among young people and women who today represent a decisive component of the national electorate. The promotion of youth empowerment, the valorisation of women’s participation and the inclusion of persons with disabilities remain key orientations strongly encouraged by the National President.
