Kumbo : Massive Turnout to Celebrate CPDM at 41

About 500 militants of Bui 1 A Section met at the Kumbo Council Hall on March 24 to mark the Party’s anniversary, proving a steady return of activities despite the security situation.

Section President Kimbif Wilfred Nyuyshembam presided over the ceremony. He told militants that peace remains the main condition for development. He urged them to stay calm and support efforts aimed at stabilising the area. He also called on members to remain active within the party despite the security situation. The WCPDM Section President, Alice Tomla, addressed the women. She praised their role during the crisis, noting that many have continued farming and small trade to support their families. She encouraged them to remain engaged, adding that women and youths are central to the current government policy under President Paul Biya.

The Mayor of Kumbo, Dr. Mborong Venasius, repeated the call for peace. He asked young people in particular to support public efforts to restore normal life. He said development projects can only move forward in a stable environment. Speakers recalled the main principles of the CPDM, which include national unity, security and economic development. They linked these goals to local priorities such as the reopening of farms, markets and schools in Bui Division.

One of the main activities was the distribution of farm tools donated by Senator Emma Lafon. The consignment was valued at about 3 million CFA francs. It included 200 hoes, 100 spades, 300 machetes and 100 watering cans. The tools were shared among militants present at the event. Women received most of the hoes and watering cans, men received spades, while youths received machetes.

Local party officials said the tools will support farming activities ahead of the planting season. Agriculture remains the main source of income for many households in Kumbo, and access to basic tools is still a challenge for some families affected by the crisis.

The turnout of about 500 militants, made up of men, women and youths, reflects a gradual return to organised political life in Kumbo. Party members said they will continue meetings and mobilisation activities.
