Widikum : Sustained Peace Building Yielding Fruits

Widikum Sub division in Momo Division of the North west is appreciative of the Hon. Senator Enwe Francis Abi for his commitment to dialogue, peace, reconciliation and community development which continues yield fruits.

Following the sociopolitical crisis, which left many communities fearful and divided, Hon. Senator Enwe Francis Abi chose the path of engagement, encouraging dialogue among stakeholders. He has consistently called on sons and daughter of Widikum to embrace peace as the only sustainable foundation for development. Great and impactful moves have marked the Senator Enwe’s fight for a return to peace and normalcy in Momo division, and particularly in Widikum Subdivision.

His historic Home coming in October 2024, seven years after was the beginning of a total transformation in the community.  The 2nd phase peace and reconciliation process of August 7 to 9, 2025, his donation of over 2000 textbooks to boost education in Widikum in August 31, 2023, the over 45 brand new bikes offered to youths to help them pick up economically and many more are Mega projects that continue to speak volumes in the community till date.

For a population that lived in total uncertainty, and that today they go about their normal activities freely and without fear; their gratitude to their Senator Enwe is total. He has been the one that battled to ensure that those who attempted to hijack peace have a rethink.

Through the Senator’s encouragements, most have seen reason to join forces with him to build a stronger and peaceful community.

The military on ground according to the Brigade Commander, Ibrahim Vondou have contributed much and the results obtained are great. “We have had great successes in our peace maintenance bead in Widikum. Credit for this is the commendable collaboration of its peace-loving people. They spare no effort to give us the right information”.  This verifiable assertion hold sway considering the conviviality now share by villagers and the security officers.

From the Administrative stand point, Ivo Chia Mungwa; Divisional Officer said it has not been easy but the determination of the Senator to purge his community. “The timeliness and the undeniable sacrifices by the Senator, notwithstanding the loses he suffered are all proof of his unwavering love for his people, a great booster that has facilitated our work”.

life in Widikum is steadily and progressively returning to normalcy.
