First Entrance into NASLA : Director General Pledges Transparency, Merit

Tanyitiku Enohachou Bayee says exams will be conducted in a transparent manner and on the bases of merit.

Cameroonians wishing to join the local public service or pursue career in the regional and local Authorities, will in the months ahead be engaging in a competitive entrance exam for the selection of trainees to form the first batch of the National School of Local Administration, NASLA, in Buea. This information is contained in a release from the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, George Elanga Obam, published recently. Officials of NASLA and other stakeholders received the news with great excitement; given that the much-awaited entrance, examination is coming at a time of greater expectations. Reacting to L’Action after the announcement, the Director General reaffirmed the commitment of the institution to ensure that the exams are conducted in a transparent manner, such that only hard working and committed students are retained. Tanyitiku said, to settle for the 500 trainees across the national territory will not be an easy ride, thereby making the process more competitive. “I want to urge all those wishing to get into NASLA not to sleep. It requires hard work. I know the number to sit for the exams will be far above the required. However, those who work hard must succeed. As of now, NASLA has the infrastructures to host the admitted trainees, including those on the in-service program. We have constructed classrooms, halls and amphitheatres to host lectures and conferences, all these are done thanks to fundings from the State”.
Going by the Minister’s release, the exams will take place on November 19 and 20, and will be written in three centres: Buea, Yaounde and Garoua. This will be after the publication of the list of eligible candidates on November 6. The 500 places have been distributed in the three cycles, with 80 for Cycle C, 220 for cycle B and 200 for cycle A. Entry qualifications includes Ordinary Level, CAP, BEPC, for cycle C, GCE Advanced Level or Baccalaureate for Cycle B and Bachelor’s degree for cycle A.
