In the posture of a triumphant entry, CPDM militants of Mezam IB stole the parade ceremony of May 20 event in Bamenda.
Cletus Anye Matoyah and his comrade of Bamenda II put up an enticing show of colours which held dignitaries on the grandstand and onlookers along the Bamenda Commercial Avenue trapped in applauds loud enough that broke the jaws of North West Governor in broad smiles.
Domineering and confident they were in their parade steps, as they took possession of the Commercial Avenue ceremonial ground only reminding the population of the years back when the party owned the National Day in diverse areas of activism.
Marching straight to the North West Governor, Section President, Anye Matoyah presented to the regional chieftain peace plants, symbolic of the party’s ceaseless calls for return of peace in the once buoyant and participatory North West Region.
To party militants of Bamenda II, the colourful participation of the CPDM at this year’s Unity Day is tangible proof of gradual return to normalcy in the regional capital with significant inputs made by the party and the administration to pipe down tensions. “Our colourful outing today is testimony to the fact the struggle for peace in our region by the CPDM with President Paul Biya at the helm is yielding great fruits. We encourage those still behind to join the trend of change,” said a Mezam IB militant, Atia Tilarious.
Tubah Frenzy
In Bambili, the university community on the outskirt of Bamenda, the population of Tubah matched words with action when they declared the “Tubah Yes” last May 12 by staging a massive turnout for the first time in six years to feast Unity Day on the Grandstand of The University of Bamenda Grandstand.
The Member of Parliament for Bafut-Tubah, Hon Agho Oliver joined the Divisional Officer, Mayor of Tubah and the CPDM family of Tubah to celebrate 2023 Unity Day. Activities marking the rare occasion in Bambili included march pass by schools, political party and social groups that operate within Tubah.
The joyous ceremony was graced by donation of agricultural inputs, machinery to students and the institution of Regional College of Agriculture. Award of medals to meritorious citizens for their distinguished services to their community preceded parades at the Bambili grandstand.
