Lives in the Ako/Misaje Constituency in Donga Matung division of the North West region will change dramatically after 31 Common Initiative Groups received financial support from Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry as the 41st anniversary gift of President Biya’s leadership.
A three-in-one celebration of the 41st anniversary of President Paul Biya’s rule took place in the Ako/ Misaje Constituency of Donga Mantung division in the North West region. Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry who comes from the area, and is interim Minister of Mines, Industry and Tecnological Development did three key things. He kicked started the Ako/Misaje Poverty Alleviation Programme, hatched the Solution to Emergency community Infrastructural Issues and drummed full support for the national President of the CPDM Paul Biya.
The event took place under the auspices of Donga Mantung Senior Divisional Officer, Dr. Nkwenti Simon Ndoh. This year’s celebration was unique. A new orientation for the development has been charted. Aimed at empowering the local people with the necessary agro-entrepreneurial boasters and have the locals gain access into the several development infrastructures realized in the two sub divisions. This initiative which is its pilot phase in Ako/Misaje shall eventually encapsulate the entire Donga Mantung division.
The over 34 initial Common Initiative Groups, CIGs in the 30 villages that make up Ako/Misaje have been allocated FCFA 100.000 each to kickstart the Poverty Alleviation Programme. Ako has FCFA 1, 800, 000 while Misaje has FCFA1,600, 000. The funds will catalyse the activities of the CIGs in the two sub divisions. Other CIGs will be examined and supported with time, L’Action learnt from the benefactor.
Aside the allocated amount which was same for all CIGs, two groups received two brand new motorbikes valued at FCFA 1,300, 000. Motorbikes is the dominant and avaliable mode of transportation in the area.
