The section will use the three months period before the close of registration to target all potential voters who reside in and out of Alou.
The Lebialem II section of the ruling CPDM party, last week during celebrations marking the 52nd national day, launched an operation dubbed “register all voters”. The operation championed by the section executive and some municipal and regional councilors, targets potential voters who have not yet registered. The operation that will run for three months before the close of Elecam register, will equally target voters who will reach the voting age within the three months period.
The exercise is expected to swell the electoral register for the party and armed them for the different elections next year.
During the launching exercise, the section created liaison with the Alou Elecam Branch, where their staff will be readily available for the registration exercise.
It should be recalled that during celebrations of the 52nd national day, a huge number of voters registered their names into the electoral register at the Alou municipal grand stand.
To facilitate the work of Elecam staff, the section has created a task force that will mobilize potential voters residing in the neighborhoods of Santcho, Dschang and other towns, and get them registered.
With the realisation of the target number if voters, the next task will be to mobilize the population ahead of the upcoming school resumption in September. The section in collaboration with the local population, will have to ensure that all schools in Alou open their doors come September. When this is achieved, it will be visible that life has completely return to normal in Alou.
The section president of Lebialem II section, HRH Chief Dominic Fotsop Asaah, who equally doubles as the South West Regional Delegate of MINEPAT, disclosed that next year is a very sensitive year for Cameroon’s democracy, with closed to five elections to take place. He said “As a section of the ruling CPDM party, it’s mandatory to arm ourselves numerically in order to face any possible challenger. Alou since it creation has remained a CPDM bastion, and we must consolidate it. This time we are not only targeting victory, but victory with great number. That is why we are bent on seeing that no potential voter is left out. We are targeting at least 500 new voters within the this three months timeframe. The section executive members and municipal and regional councillors have been given different tasks on how to go about the mobilisation exercise. We are happy that life is fast returning to normal in most parts of Alou. Most of our population have returned home.
After the voter registration, our next target will be to drum for effective school resumption. This academic year, we expect all schools to open their doors in Alou and this we will achieve through collaboration with the administration and the population”.
The move of the section was warmly received by militants, who all contributed financially to facilitate the exercises.
