Minister Victor Mengot, Head of the Permanent Divisional Delegation of the Central Committee hascalled for greater internal cohesion and disciplined preparation to secure an overwhelming victory across the division.
The Permanent Divisional Delegation of the CPDM Central Committee for Manyu held a strategic seminar in Buea to step up preparations for the forthcoming legislative and municipal elections, setting a clear target for the party – a landslide victory. Held on Saturday, August 29, under the theme, “The Imperative of a CPDM Landslide Victory in the Legislative and Municipal Elections: Reasons, Prerequisites, Actions,” the seminar brought together party officials, elected representatives, political elites and other stakeholders from Manyu.
The meeting, chaired by Victor Mengot, Minister in charge of Special Duties at the Presidency, provided a platform for a detailed examination of the reasons for seeking a landslide victory and the practical steps required to achieve it. Discussions also focused on a security strategy for a resounding victory, a plan of action and expectations for CPDM candidates, as well as the evolution of the party’s electoral performance in the division.
The Head of the PDD described the moment as a crucial juncture for the party, stressing that the objective of a sweeping victory required renewed mobilisation and a review of existing working methods. Manyu, he noted, is the constituency where the CPDM must act with the confidence and responsibility of the reigning champions. For the PDD Head however, victory will not come from repeating established routines. He called for greater seriousness, rigour and consultation, alongside more creative approaches adapted to the realities of the local context. At the heart of this renewed approach, he placed the restoration of harmony within the party. “Peace within our ranks remains the indispensable prerequisite for all our victories,” the PDD Head stressed, urging militants to put aside divisions and misunderstandings and strengthen unity and cohesion. The seminar also underscored the importance of maintaining a permanent presence among the population in the months ahead. Minister Mengot called for priority to be given to local communication initiatives capable of ensuring a sustained, proactive and responsive party presence, including across social media platforms.
With a call for young people and women to remain engaged in line with the expectations of the National President, President Paul Biya, for greater participation in political life, the seminar ended with renewed calls for mobilisation behind the CPDM’s electoral objective, followed by a motion of support.
