Ndzo Celestin, Head of the Menchum I (Wum) Section Electoral Committee and his team brokered a consensus at a meeting on Thursday August 26, 2021 in Bamenda.
Ghong Ivor is the consensus candidate for the office of the Section President of Menchum I. He will likely become the next grass root leader of the CPDM in Menchum I (Wum) as new challenger is not expected to appear before the elections. Former senator Wallang David Akwo, and Kom Elvis dropped out of the race after astute negotiations by the Ndzo Electoral Committee. Ghong Ivor is a steadfast and loyal militant. He was the Vice President of the Section to late Chuo Cyprian and since the passing away of the President in 2019, he has been running the section with the assistance of Fungnsen Patricia Mbil, incumbent WCPDM president. His mantle has been tested by the ongoing crisis in the two regions. When many shelved their militancy and escaped from the ruthless gunmen, Ghong stayed back. He sustained party activities in Wum, and is one of those who can be credited for the eventual return of peace in the area. While working with late Chuo Cyprian, he managed the operations in the section. The president lived out of Wum and depended on his vice president (Ghong Ivor) to carry out activities.
For the women’s wing, Menchum I has opted for continuity. Fungnsen Patricia Mbi will likely continue as the WCPDM President as no other aspirant has emerged to challenge the incumbent. For the YCPDM president, the lot has fallen on Fang Kum Adolf.
The success of the renewal exercise in Menchum I is attributed to the proficiency of Ndzo Celestin. He is a man with so much love for the party and has contributed to the growth of the CPDM in the Menchum, his division of origin and the entire North West region. And, will not want an exercise, considered crucial for the survival of the CPDM, to fail. The seasoned civil administrator has convinced militants to put aside personal interests and put the party first.
