Development of Nguti Subdivision : Movers and Shakers Put on Thinking Caps

The people of Nguti in Kupe Muanenguba division of the South West region met in Yaounde at the All Nguti People’s Conference last Saturday.

Men, women, and youth drawn from the nine clans that make up the subdivision gathered in Yaounde to think out ways of reviving the lifeblood of the area. Discussions orbited on the theme “Unite for the Development of Nguti”. All speakers voiced out the urgency for this heterogeneous community to federate forces for the interest of the Subdivsion.
One of the great sons of Nguti Okie Johnson Ndoh, Director General of the Hydro Carbons Price Stabilisation Fund, HPSF, under whose patronage the All Nguti People’s Conference held, had what many said was a genuine worry – ideological differences hindering the development of Nguti.
He quizzed: “Why should it be Nguti”? However dark the immediate past of Nguti might look like, the Director General of CSPH like other attendees has hopes in the future. Okie Johnson Ndoh said Nguti will never be the same after the meeting. “It is the rebirth of our subdivision”, he said. He stressed on unity and keeping close ranks of the Nguti people. “We came here in diverse ranks with different cultural backgrounds, we shall be leaving here as one… oneness that it is Nguti subdivision and that light shall be taken to Nguti sub#division” he told his people.
Hon. Fonge Julius one of the initiators of the conference in his keynote address blamed the staggering development of Nguti on the void of a socio-cultural and economic forum. Elite like Napoleon Nyake Besong and Okie Johnson Ndoh and some chiefs, agreed with the MP that sons and daughters of the subdivision need such a structure to rely on for development – giving birth to the conference. The platform according to the Member of Parliament will help stakeholders to discuss problems of the area and find solutions.
With such a forum, the MP says resources could be pulled together to help the underprivileged.
Hope Sona Ebai Board chair of the Cameroon Development Corporation, CDC, conjures the revival of Nguti Subdivision Socio-Cultural and Development Association, NGUSCUDA – thanks to the meeting.

The Way
Created in 2008, the pioneer President of NGUSCUDA Napoleon Nyake Besong through an emissary said the conference “should be able to gather the pieces and revive NGUSCUDA once again”. Hence, a National Caretaker Committee was put in place headed by Prince Mabengue Leonard Junior while waiting for each clan to nominate a member into the committee to manage the affairs of NGUSCUDA for a period of six months and within one year organise elections. Nguti has been a theatre of atrocities stemming from the ongoing Anglophone armed conflict, and chiefs agreed to cleanse the land in a close future for “peace to return” in Nguti subdivision. Nguti could soon have a microfinance institution within six months with a seed capital FCFA 500 million, it emerged from the conference. Each clan would pay in three million FCFA and a share will cost 10k.
The transformation of Nguti is certain if words match actions within a reasonable timeline.
