Condolence Visit to Foumban : CPDM Senator Leads Strong Delegation

Senator Fon Chafah Isaac accompanied by a powerful delegation paid a condolence visit to the new Sultan Mohamed Nabil Nforifoum Mbombo Njoya, and Bamoun people, on Sunday December 12.

The Fon of Bangolan, in Ngoketunjia division, of the North West region, also Senate bureau member, was in Foumban to extend his condolences to the new Sultan and the people of the Noun division, following the death of the late Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya. He was accompanied by Bangolan notables, the royal family, sons and daughters, and Anglophone big wigs. Among the top personalities were: The Director General of OLA ENERGY, CAMTEL General Manager (Achidi Yah Judith), Secretary General of the Bilingualism Commission (Dr Chi Asafor Cornelius), the Assistant Director of SONAMINE (Fru Jonathan), Hon Njingum Musa (Questor at the National Assembly), Senator Nkeze Emilia of the SDF, GM and Board Chairman of UNVDA (Adangfung Eric and Dr Nwana Sama Bernard respectively), mayors and religious leaders.
An ecumenical service was said during event, among other activities that took place. Rev Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne, the Secretary General of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, advised the new Sultan to integrate forgiveness in his rule while the Imam called on him to imbue love during his reign. Traditional displays and dances graced the occasion.
Senator Fon Chafah said a special relationship exists between the kingdoms of Foumban and Bangolan. When Fon Chafah was enthroned in 1982, it was late Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya who presented him to the population. Fon Chafah also shared some anecdotes he had with the Sultan. He promised to stand by the new Sultan at all times.
Because no one goes to the palace with bare hands, the notables of Bangolan came with a ‘special bag; used to perform a series of rites, for the protection of his reign. Fon Chafah brought a truckload of gifts. According to the Senator, the Sultan would use the goodies to entertain his visitors; many of whom are coming to pay homage. Tons of red oil, bags of rice, goats, cartons of groundnut oil and laundry soap were among the items the Fon brought.
The Sultan, expressed gratitude, offered special prayers, and called on the Almighty God to guide the Fon of Bangolan while thanking all the members of his delegation. A royal reception crowned the visit.
