Promoting Inclusion : Bamenda II Gifts Persons With Disabilities

Some nine visually impaired students of the Bamenda II Social Centre are beneficiaries of the support from the council to enhance their capacities.

Mayor Chenwi Peter handed the materials consisting a slate, a stylus and realms cardboard papers to the deserving beneficiaries Wednesday January 26 on the precincts of the council.
“The council will spare no efforts to ensure that pupils and students are in the classrooms to learn no matter their disability status”, Mayor Chenwi told the beneficiaries.
While receiving the donations, the Director of the Bamenda II Social Centre, Gladys Ekie lauded the ceaseless efforts of the council to make their work better. Expressing her gratitude to the gesture, she assured the council boss and his collaborators that their gifts shall be put to productive use.
Before this consignment of donation to the Centre, the Council in 2021 donated white canes and wheel chairs to the centre; ‘spoiling’ them with gifts to better their livelihood.
The President of the Coordinating Unit of Associations of Persons Living with Disability for Bamenda II, Pa Ndalle on his part hailed the donation was quite timely as it comes just on the eve third sequence examinations for the students.
The Centre placed under the tutelage of the Ministry of Social Affairs with support from stakeholder ministries is host to persons with varied disabilities.
The council commits annually to offer support services to persons living with disabilities through material donations, registration and other needed services as a move to accompany government towards an inclusive society.
